Hello Cranford Soccer parents,
Does your son or daughter want to learn how to be a certified soccer referee, get exercise and get paid while doing it?
If so, Cranford will be hosting a Grade 9 Referee class on Saturday August 19th at the Community Center from 8AM-5PM
Participants must register for the class on www.NJrefs.com website, the cost is $60.00.
GRADE 9 Recreational Referee Requirements
This class is geared toward the youth referee who wants to start officiating recreational games as well as working as an assistant referee for competitive travel games up to U14.
- Minimum 14 years of age on the day of the class
- Can only be a referee for RECREATIONAL soccer games and an Assistant Referee for Competitive Youth games
- Must attend a one day classroom session in its entirety
- Pass a 50 question multiple choice classroom exam with a score of at least 80%
- Click HERE for additional info & registration page
Once participant has successfully completed the class, they will be provided their 2017 Certification patch and will be eligible to referee games as an Assistant Referee for the Fall 2017 season.
After completion of the class – all referee’s will be provided an order form from Official Sports.com to order their official Referee gear. The NJ State rate is $55.00 for the starter kit.
Cranford currently pays Assistant Referees (A/R’s) $0.50 per minute per game for U12 and above, so for a 50 minute game its $25.00 per game to the A/R. (or $25.00 an hour to be more involved in the game and exercise too)
The process is pretty simple – if your want to referee on a given day or weekend;
*you send an email with the hours you are available to work. (Provide a 3 hour block of time so its worth your time and that of the assignor to schedule games)
Request has to be sent in each week by Wednesday at 9PM for upcoming weekend game assignments. Game assignments are sent to referee’s on Fridays before the weekend games.
In addition to games played in Cranford, we also work with the Mid NJ Referee Assignor who can assign games in neighboring towns such as Westfield if a referee wants to earn more money.
